SOS Learning Series Play and Recreation = Healthy Development

SOS Learning Series Play and Recreation = Healthy Development

Join us for a free interactive seminar to learn how recreation can help kids thrive now and in the future! Child-minding services available.

Join us on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to noon, at the SOS Community Services Centre in Parksville for a free seminar where you will learn how you can help support local kids to grow and thrive!

Studies show that when children and youth participate in recreational activities, they benefit from more than just physical development. Play teaches important life-skills such as cooperation, leadership and how to handle adversity. It builds self-confidence and a sense of belonging.

Learn from and ask questions of an esteemed group of panelists for this interactive discussion. Panelists include representatives from KidSport BC, Jumpstart, RDN, a Registered Clinical Counsellor, and the SOS Child, Youth & Family Program Manager.

Free child-minding services available on-site for this event! Our SOS Child, Youth & Family team will keep your kids happy and busy so that you can enjoy the seminar. Please come 10-15 minutes early so that you and your children have time to settle in.

Pre-register here by April 18 – capacity limited to the first 50 registrants.

Complimentary refreshments will be available.

For health and safety reasons, please be scent-aware.

XYZ Generations Group Updates

XYZ Generations Group Updates

We wanted to provide some updates on our XYZ Generations Adults Group:

  • We have changed the name of the group: Mixers for the Middles!
  • We hosted a Foraging Tour led by Vancouver Island Tours. The weather turned out perfectly for this amazing forest walk in Coombs, where we learned what to put in our salads (year-round!) what we can pick to eat or drink, and how to make a natural, bubbly juice!
  • We aim to hold events for the group quarterly throughout the year.
  • We plan to run a Ticket to Ride Game in February 2024.
  • If you’re interested in finding out the details for our next quarterly XYZ Generations event, follow our social media pages or sign up for our E-newsletters on our website homepage. www.sosd69.com.
